The speech focuses on the presentation of the five (5) distinct phases of maturation, development of gas transmission pipelines projects as follows:

  1. Business Case Development Plan- Feasibility Study
  2. Project Maturity/Optimal Solution Selection/Pre-FEED Design.
  3. Project Planning – Final Study (FEED) & Tender Documentation – Environmental Impact Studies, Safety Studies, Licensing.
  4. Project Implementation – Construction
  5. Commissioning – Start-Up-Trial Operation

Emphasis will be given on examples – from the speaker's occupation and experience – on the projects recently implemented or planned in Greece such as the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the National Natural Gas System (ESFA), as well as the onshore part of the IGI Poseidon pipeline .

The Speaker

Mr. Telemachos Vaitsis

Mr. Telemachos Vaitsis is a Certified Civil Engineer.

He holds the position of International Trade Project Coordinator (Cyprus, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia) in the Hellenic Petroleum group.

He has 30 years of construction and engineering experience, of which 26 (1995-2020) working with ASPROFOS S.A. (ELPE group) on major natural gas and oil pipeline projects such as DESFA projects (pipelines, compressors , measuring and regulatory stations, LNG tanking) as well as in the TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) where for 8 years he participated as Project Manager in the planning and implementation of the project (FEED studies, Licensing studies, Detailed Construction Planning).

He has great expertise in Natural Gas infrastructure projects and industrial facilities and in the fields of Project Management, Engineering Management, Construction Management, Quality/ HSE systems, Contract Administration, Expert in Trenchless Pipeline Technology (Auger & Thrust Boring, Horizontal Directional Drilling ) for road/railway/river crossings.
